FCRA Settings
Use FCRA Compliant Background Check when your social media check falls under a permissible purpose under the U.S. Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA)—for example employment, credit, or insurance-related screening. The FCRA is overseen by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
What this setting does in Ferretly
When checked, Ferretly applies FCRA-oriented product restrictions (history, analytics, disclaimer language) for subjects that use that report profile.
When unchecked (for example, hiring outside the United States, or a non-FCRA use case), Ferretly removes FCRA references from the report and can offer longer / unlimited social media history options as allowed by your plan and settings.

Step 2: Open General Settings
Click Settings in the left navigation (gear icon on smaller screens).
In the left panel, open General Settings.
FCRA mode is controlled per report profile (settings profile). Confirm you are editing the profile you intend to use for FCRA-covered checks.

Step 3: Enable or disable FCRA mode
Find FCRA Compliant Background Check.
Check the box to turn FCRA mode on, or clear it to turn FCRA mode off.
Save if your UI requires an explicit save for that profile.
### Product restrictions when FCRA mode is on
When FCRA mode is enabled for a report profile, Ferretly restricts what can appear for associated subjects, including:
Area | Restriction (product behavior) |
|---|---|
--- | --- |
Post history | Analysis of public posts limited to 7 years |
Analytics | Score, OCEAN personality, post sentiment, sentiment over time, and channel volumes cannot be added to reports |
Age / DOB | Age/DOB property is not displayed on the report |
Disclaimers | Required FCRA and accuracy language is included in the disclaimer section and on the cover page |
See also FCRA Verifiability Standard / Post Insights for why certain analytics are limited for FCRA-permissible purposes (for example, hiring).
