Geospatial Footprint overview
Check availability
Geospatial Footprint is available on the Enterprise plan or with the Geospatial Footprint add-on.
Open the map
On the subject list, click View Map in subject action menu or click the map signal next to the subject.
The map shows the subject's profile location, linked social profile locations, and inferred post locations.
Inferred post locations
When "Enable inferred post locations" is on for the report profile, the map also shows inferred locations from posts (if any were discovered during the social media screening).
A transit between two countries is its own event, and each country is counted once.
When the preference is off, inferred locations are omitted.
Change the setting
The preference is saved on the report profile under Settings › General Settings › Geospatial Footprint.
Jurisdiction Nexus
Each country is checked against every source below and kept at its highest tier.
Tier | What it means |
|---|---|
Tier 1 (highest) | A U.S. foreign adversary (15 CFR 791.4), a country on the FATF black list (call for action), or a country under a comprehensive OFAC embargo. |
Tier 2 | A country under other OFAC sanctions programs, ITAR denial or restriction (22 CFR 126.1), or Ferretly risk overlays such as U.S. entry restrictions or conflict areas. |
Tier 3 | A country on the FATF grey list (increased monitoring) that doesn't already qualify for a higher tier. |
The country list is refreshed from these sources as they change, so a country's tier can move over time.
