Step 4: Configure options

Use the controls on the right to set the following.

FCRA Compliant Background Check

Enables limits suited to Fair Credit Reporting Act–style pre-employment use in the United States. It constrains post history and what can appear in the report. See FCRA Settings.

Lookback period

How far back to analyze posts. FCRA mode recommends seven years.

  • Turning FCRA on sets the lookback to 7 years. You can then choose 1 to 10 years. There is no unlimited step while FCRA is on.

  • Turning FCRA off sets the lookback to unlimited, shown as ∞.

  • One step above 10 is ∞. One step below ∞ is 10.

  • On Enterprise and Professional, unlimited collects posts back to January 1, 2000.

Send an email when the report run status changes

The email card sends run-status alerts and the completed-report email separately. Run-status alerts go to the address in Delivery address for run status alerts.

Send email to the subject owner when the report is complete

This email goes to the subject owner and does not use the delivery address for run status alerts. It is not sent because an analyst marked the report redressed.

Include web/news posts at or above this confidence

When checked, Ferretly runs a web and news search for the subject and can include matching articles in the report. Search uses the subject’s name, alias, location, and country/region. If the subject has no location, search runs for the United States only.

Ferretly scores each article Low, Medium, High, or unknown confidence by comparing page content to subject properties. Choose the minimum confidence to include. Selecting Low includes all articles, including those with no confidence score.

See Web/News and Adverse Media Search.

Profile Search

Enable automatic searching / AI profile search. When on, Ferretly runs Agentic AI search when a subject is assigned to an analyst or a check is run. When off, it does not.

Geospatial Footprint

Enable inferred post locations. This is a saved report-profile preference and requires Enterprise or the Geospatial Footprint add-on. When on, the subject's map includes inferred post locations. When off, they are omitted. See Geospatial Footprint.

US criminal, registry, and teacher-sanctions searches

The Global Sanctions card has three saved toggles. Its subtitle reads: "Optional US criminal, registry, and teacher-sanctions searches. FCRA mode allows Teacher Sanctions only."

  • National Criminal Database (blue shield)

  • Offender Registry (orange shield)

  • Teacher Sanctions (purple shield)

Turning FCRA on turns off National Criminal Database and Offender Registry and leaves Teacher Sanctions. These searches require Enterprise or the Global Sanctions add-on, and apply to future runs and to refreshed reports. See US criminal, registry, and teacher-sanctions searches.
