Understanding Subjects

A subject is the individual you run a social media check on in Ferretly.

Everything you enter about that person—names, locations, contact details, education, employer, age, and known social accounts—is stored as subject properties. Ferretly uses those properties to find social media profiles and run the check.

Step 2: What to capture about a subject

When you add a subject, gather the details you already know, such as:

  • Full name and aliases

  • Known addresses or locations

  • Phone number and email

  • Employer, college, and high school

  • Age or date of birth (when available)

  • Known social media accounts or handles

You do not need every field to start. Strong name and location data plus any known handles already improve matching. Agentic AI profile search can also discover additional profiles from the properties you provide. See Searching for Profiles.

Step 3: How subjects appear in Ferretly

Existing subjects live on the Subjects page. Click Subjects in the left navigation (or the person icon on a narrow screen).
